The trail is approximately one mile and takes around an hour to two hours to complete. Stunning lantern displays, handcrafted by Chinese artists using traditional techniques. There is a short performance by Chinese artists and there will be Chinese artisans selling speciality gifts as well as Zoo Lantern goodies. Food and drink stalls are located along the route.
The event takes place each night from 4.45 pm to 8.45 pm. Everything is new for this year and the theme is Myths and Legends. A mixture of Chinese and Scottish myths and legendary animals, brought to life through spectacular lanterns.
Tickets can be booked on line and the online price is £18 for an adult and £9.50 for children over 3.
There are lots of restaurants on the way back but a couple we would recommend are:
The Paper Mill at Lasswade
and The Juniperlea which is on the A68 just south of Pathead. It is probably best to book in advance for both places, particularly at weekends. If earlier in the week do check that they are open.
5 Self Catering "5 Star" Luxury Lodges each with their own Hot Tub in Scotland, close to Edinburgh in the Scottish Borders offering you peace, tranquillity and a place to escape to in the heart of beautiful Scotland.
