In the lead up to Christmas, the Scottish Borders is an unmissable winter wonderland of frosty scenery, twinkling shops and cosy tearooms. And as many of us missed out on our summer holiday this year, you really shouldn't deny yourself a festive season break instead.
Whether you are planning a Christmas shopping trip, romantic winter getaway or just a chance to relax with the family in rural bliss, you can enjoy it all in comfort at an Airhouses luxury lodge...
Escape into stunning winter scenery
Airhouses is a set of five-star self-catering lodges set in over 600 acres of farmland, just a 45-minute drive from Edinburgh.
All of our lodges have views of the Lammermuir Hills, which look enchanting covered in frost. In winter we are also a haven for wildlife, with foxes, hares and deer all paying us regular visits. There are also lots of pretty woodland walks to enjoy nearby, as well as sights like Thirlestane Castle, the Eildon Hills and The Hirsel.
In other words, where better to relax in the lead up to the 25th of December?
Experience true Christmas spirit
We love the festive season at Airhouses, which is why we try to make it as magical as possible for our guests. As soon as the first red berries ripen on the holly bushes, we start feeling excited about the celebrations to come.
From mid November, we decorate our grounds in sparkling Christmas lights. And to put you in the Yuletide mood, we also place a pretty Christmas tree in each and every lodge.
Unwind in a luxurious lodge
Speaking of our lodges, each has its own unique character, but all of them make warm and cosy winter retreats.
Every lodge has a private outdoor seating area, hot tub, cosy central heating, smart TV, and free WiFi.
In the mornings, you can make a fresh brew with the Nespresso coffee machine then step into a relaxing Raindance shower with cosy underfloor heating and luxurious towels.
Our biggest lodge is the Capercaillie, which has five bedrooms and is set in woodlands near to our Shetland ponies. Our cosiest is The Lodge, which sleeps two and is an ideal romantic hideaway. We also have our cute rowan-coloured glamping pod, The Rowan.
Cosy up in total style
When better than winter to snuggle up, pour a glass of wine and enjoy being totally toasty indoors? Luckily, our lodges are designed for exactly that.
All of our luxury escapes come complete with a stack of books and board games to keep you busy on chilly evenings. We also sell tasty ready made meals in our Airhouses Farm Shop, so all you have to do is pop one in the oven then relax.
Go on a Christmas shopping spree
Airhouses isn't far from the town of Peebles, which looks pretty as a picture book at Christmas. There are lots of shops and tearooms to explore, as well as peaceful riverside scenery.
Top Christmas shopping spots include Cocoa Black Chocolate Boutique, Caledonia Kilts & Gifts and Peebles Crystal Shop. Or you could browse for a piece of local art at a gallery such as Woodworks or Dunny Deer Studio.
One thing is for sure though — you are bound to find some very special Christmas gifts for your family and friends this year.
Airhouses has everything you need for a comfy festive season escape in the Scottish Borders. So why not book a pre Christmas break while you have the chance?
