The nearest beach to Airhouses is at Yellowcraigs. This is a sandy beach popular with families. There is a nature trail and a network of foothpaths. The water quality is excellent and the beach has a Green Coast Award and is Marine Conservation Society Recommended.
From Yellowcraigs, there are spectacular views of the 1885 lighthouse on Fidra Island which was the inspiration for Robert Louis Setevenson's famous tale Treasure Island. The network of footpaths go through sheltered woodlands and extensive grassland. There is a dog walk away from the beach where dog bins are provided.
There are good pubs and restaurants nearby in Dirleton. There is also a Castle in Dirleton with great gardens. The Castle holds the record for the longest herbaceous flower bed in the World!
