Oxton our local village is a 20 min walk from Airhouses and part of our circular treasure trail walk. It has a small community shop and a play park. The village pub, The Tower, is due to re-open within the next few months.
From Oxton, you can access the Old Railway Walk that goes from Oxton to Lauder. There is also the Oxton Bird Garden and Pottery an exciting new venture opening soon. Lauder is 5 miles away and home to a wonderful mix of shops and cafes.
We have a number of wonderful Market Towns close by including Kelso, Melrose, Jedburgh, Haddington and Selkirk. The towns also host monthly Farmer’s Markets.
The Scottish Borders is steeped in history. It is renowned for its Abbeys. Melrose, Jedburgh, Kelso, and Dryburgh are all nearby.
There are also plenty of castles and historic houses to visit.
The Scottish Borders is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Be it walking the famous Southern Upland Way, or fly fishing with a gilly on the beautiful River Tweed. There is world-class mountain biking, kayaking and wild swimming spots locally. Even rock climbing and horse trekking is available!
Only 40 mins drive from Airhouses are some spectacular Award Wining East Coast Beaches.
